Summary

This initiative aims to tackle the persistent issue of stunting in Indonesia, particularly in rural areas in Central Kalimantan and West Java. Stunting greatly affects the health and development of children - with irreversible long term consequences. With your support, our holistic approach focusing on women community volunteers engagement, monitoring of pregnant mothers, and public awareness will provide tools to prevent stunting to more than 2,500 families, mostly living in poverty.

Challenge

Nationally, the prevalence of stunting fell to 19.8% in 2024 according to the Indonesian Nutrition (SSGI). The national target is to bring stunting down to 14.2% by 2029. West Java is highlighted as one of the six provinces with the largest numbers of stunted children ( 638,000) and thereby a priority region, whereas 1 out of 4 children in Central Kalimantan is stunted. Rural areas experience challenges due to lack of access to quality care and trained health workers, and absence of facilities.

Solution

Our experience taught us the crucial role of supporting community-run Integrated Health Centers (Posyandu) and the community health volunteers (kader) who are the frontliners in order to spread knowledge on the risk of stunting among families. This project will work with 100+ women volunteers, targeting 1,000+ mothers who will implement stunting prevention measures during the first 1000 days of life and will reach more than 2,500 community members through the educational campaigns.

Long-Term Impact

By focusing on stunting prevention, we are investing in the future of Indonesia. Healthy children are more likely to excel in education and contribute positively to their families and communities. Our experience in stunting prevention projects have consistently demonstrated that empowered community volunteers can create lasting change. Your support will enable us to continue our mission of combating stunting and ensuring a brighter future for children in West Java and Central Kalimantan.
