Dear GlobalGiving Community,

Warm greetings from Face Up Generation Aid Organization (FUGAO).

We are pleased to share our latest progress report for the project “Empowering Communities to Thrive After Crisis” (Project #71909).

During the April–July 2026 reporting period, FUGAO continued supporting vulnerable women, youth, low-income households, and individuals affected by economic and social crises. Building on the achievements of the previous reporting period, the project focused on strengthening livelihoods, developing practical skills, improving psychosocial well-being, and strengthening community resilience.

Through an integrated approach, the project is helping vulnerable individuals move beyond immediate hardship toward greater self-reliance, economic independence, confidence, and resilience.

The continued support of GlobalGiving donors and partners has enabled FUGAO to expand opportunities for people who are working to rebuild their lives after crisis.

1. Project Overview

The Empowering Communities to Thrive After Crisis project supports vulnerable individuals and communities affected by economic, social, and humanitarian crises.

The project combines:

F  Economic empowerment and livelihood support

F  Vocational and entrepreneurship training

F  Financial literacy and business skills

F  Psychosocial support and emotional well-being

F  Community engagement

F  Resilience-building activities

F  Mentorship and follow-up support

Our goal is not simply to help people survive crisis, but to create pathways through which individuals and communities can recover, become self-reliant, and thrive.

2. Target Communities and Beneficiaries

During the reporting period, FUGAO continued prioritizing:

F  Vulnerable women

F  Unemployed and underemployed youth

F  Low-income households

F  Women-headed households

Beneficiary selection continued to emphasize vulnerability, need, willingness to participate, and potential for sustainable economic and social recovery.

3. Progress During April – July 2026

During this reporting period, FUGAO expanded project activities and strengthened follow-up support for beneficiaries who had previously received training or livelihood assistance.

The project placed particular emphasis on connecting skills development with practical economic opportunities, while integrating psychosocial support to address the emotional and social challenges associated with crisis and economic hardship.

4. Major Achievements

4.1 Economic Empowerment and Livelihood Support

During the reporting period, FUGAO provided livelihood and economic empowerment support to approximately 120 additional beneficiaries.

Some participants have begun using newly acquired skills and startup support to generate income for themselves and their families.

4.2 Vocational Skills and Capacity Building

This integrated approach is helping ensure that beneficiaries receive not only financial or material assistance, but also the skills and psychosocial support needed to sustain their progress.

8. Challenges Encountered

Although implementation has progressed positively, several challenges continue to affect beneficiaries and project implementation.

Inflation and rising prices continue to affect the purchasing power of beneficiaries and increase the cost of establishing and operating small businesses.

Many young people continue to face difficulties accessing stable employment opportunities.

Limited Capital

Some trained beneficiaries require additional startup capital to establish or expand income-generating activities.

Rising Demand

The number of vulnerable individuals seeking livelihood, vocational, and psychosocial support continues to increase.

Psychosocial Challenges

Some beneficiaries continue to experience stress, uncertainty, and emotional challenges resulting from economic hardship and previous crisis experiences.

Sustainability Challenges

Small businesses operated by vulnerable households remain sensitive to market fluctuations, limited capital, and changing consumer demand.

F  Integrated psychosocial support with livelihood interventions

F  Entrepreneurship

F  Financial literacy

F  Savings and responsible financial management

F  Community-based support

F  Mentorship

By 2030, FUGAO aims to empower thousands of vulnerable individuals across Ethiopia with the skills, opportunities, and support needed to build sustainable livelihoods and resilient communities.

14. Why This Project Matters

For a vulnerable person recovering from crisis, a small opportunity can make a significant difference.

A vocational skill can become a source of income.

A small business can become a family's livelihood.

Psychosocial support can restore confidence.

Community support can reduce isolation.

Training can transform uncertainty into opportunity.

This project brings these elements together to help people move from vulnerability to resilience and from dependency toward self-reliance.

15. Impact of Your Contribution

Your contribution helps FUGAO provide practical support to people working to rebuild their lives.

For example:

F  $25 can support psychosocial care for one individual

F  $75 can contribute toward vocational training

F  $150 can support small business startup assistance

F  $500 can support a group of vulnerable beneficiaries

F  $5,000 can help expand community-wide resilience and livelihood activities

Every contribution helps create opportunities for vulnerable individuals to recover, rebuild, and become more self-reliant.

16. Our Commitment to Beneficiaries

FUGAO remains committed to ensuring that project implementation is:

F  Community-centered

F  Inclusive

F  Transparent

F  Accountable

F  Participatory

F  Gender-responsive

F  Focused on sustainability

F  Responsive to beneficiary needs

We believe vulnerable people should not only be recipients of assistance—they should be active participants in shaping their own recovery and future.

17. Closing Appreciation

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the GlobalGiving community, donors, supporters, volunteers, community members, and partners for continuing to believe in the potential of vulnerable communities.

Your support is helping women, youth, and families turn skills into opportunities, opportunities into livelihoods, and livelihoods into more secure futures.

Because of your partnership, individuals who once faced uncertainty are gaining skills, confidence, income opportunities, and hope.

Together, we are empowering communities to move beyond crisis, rebuild with dignity, and thrive.
