Program Update: Empowering Active Citizens in The Bahamas
At the Organization for Responsible Governance (ORG), our commitment to empowering Bahamian citizens through the Active Citizens Bahamas program remains unwavering. Over the past year, we've been on an incredible journey, reaching 10 islands across The Bahamas and engaging with over 1000 Bahamians in our quest to build skills and opportunities for positive citizen participation.
Our Approach: Teach, Listen, Train
Active Citizens Bahamas is rooted in our Teach, Listen, Train model, which fosters a two-way exchange of knowledge between ORG and Bahamian citizens. This approach creates safe and achievable pathways to tangible action, enabling individuals and communities to make a meaningful impact.
Impactful Milestones
In the past year alone, we have held 45 training sessions with both youth and adults in a variety of settings, including schools, churches, and civic gatherings. The response from our fellow Bahamians has been nothing short of inspiring.
Participant Testimonies Reflecting Impact
Here are some powerful testimonies from our participants that truly capture the impact of our sessions:
- "I will make The Bahamas a better place."
- "I will be everything I know I can be."
- "I will make good decisions with my life.
These testimonies reflect the profound transformation taking place within our communities as we empower individuals to take charge of their own destinies and contribute positively to the betterment of The Bahamas.
Expanding Our Reach to the Family Islands
As we look to the future, ORG is dedicated to expanding the Active Citizens Bahamas program to more communities, particularly in the Family Islands of The Bahamas. These communities, often marginalized and left behind in national decision-making, deserve the same opportunities for growth and development as any other part of our nation.
Through GlobalGivings online platform, ORG is actively seeking additional financial support to make this expansion a reality. By doing so, we aim to ensure that every citizen in The Bahamas, regardless of their location, can play a vital role in shaping the future of our beautiful country.
Stay tuned for more updates as we continue our journey of empowering Active Citizens and creating a brighter, more inclusive future for all in The Bahamas. Together, we can achieve remarkable things
