This project will build a soccer field in Buduburam; former Liberian Refugee Camp in Ghana. Buduburam is currently an unsafe place for children and there are no areas for kids to enjoy and practice sport safely. LAMSA kids will benefit but also all students from the schools in the community making it more than 1000 children. We will buy 2.5 hectares of land, level the surface, plant natural grass, fence the area, build a drenage system and a well for free water access to all the community.
Buduburam struggles with poverty, overcrowding, and a lack of basic infrastructure. The absence of safe play areas leaves children vulnerable to violence and negative influences. Over 1,000 children, including LAMSA participants and students, are directly affected, missing out on opportunities for physical and social development. The community as a whole suffers from instability due to the lack of structured activities for its youth.
By creating a 2.5-hectare sports center that will start with the construction of a football field with natural grass, fencing, drainage, and a water well, this project will provide a safe and structured space for children to engage in sports. It will serve as a recreational hub, reduce exposure to unsafe environments, and foster positive social interactions. The free water access will also benefit the broader community, improving quality of life while promoting health and unity.
The soccer field will promote health, reduce crime, and foster leadership among children. It will serve over 1,000 kids, instilling teamwork, discipline, and perseverance. The space will support school activities, strengthen community bonds, and provide free water access. Over time, this project will help break cycles of insecurity, improve education, and create a safer, healthier, and more united Buduburam community.
