Announcing EFA's Organizational Transition!

For the last decade, EFA International has worked to sustain a quiet revolution in Northern Cameroon.  Since 2004, EFA has grown from one youth association to a network of 10 associations, with more than 300 members. In addition to providing crucial psychosocial support and income generation activities to help its members live positively with HIV, EFA’s Youth Empowerment Network has reached tens of thousands of other Cameroonians through the empowerment of more than 50 peer educators, who now work in their communities to prevent the spread of HIV, fight stigma, and create positive change in the lives of those affected by the AIDS epidemic.  This work is invaluable, as EFA is the only organization of its kind in the Extreme North of Cameroon.

EFA International is now at an organizational turning point. From the outset, our vision was to build a sustainable, locally-managed network.  In 2014, that dream will become a reality, as EFA International becomes EFA Cameroon: an independent, national organization, led by a committed staff and an inspiring and motivated National Board.   This transition will be happening gradually over the next year. During this time, our priority is to support EFA Cameroon to secure a sustainable infrastructure and long-term financial strategy, so that EFA’s vital work may continue.

We will be keeping our supporters informed about the progress of the transition through regular Global Giving updates.  We will also be launching a capital campaign for EFA Cameroon before the end of 2013, which we hope many of you will consider supporting.

In the meantime, we send our most heartfelt thanks to all of you for your support. Without your generosity, EFA would not be where it is today.

We are together! Nous sommes ensembles!
