Empowering African Youth: Blockchain for Dreams

By Karen Jooste | Project Leader

We are pleased to provide an update on RightfulShare’s progress, aimed at creating a more accessible and fair economy using blockchain technology. In our ongoing efforts to empower marginalised young people in South Africa, particularly in rural areas where almost 70% of the youth are unemployed, we continue to make strides in providing crypto-based basic income and tailored support to onboard them into the digital world and kickstart their businesses.

One of our standout success stories is that of Darryl. Despite facing significant challenges, including leaving school early and experiencing periods of incarceration, Darryl's resilience and determination led him to embrace the opportunities presented by RightfulShare. Through our program, he not only gained stability but also embarked on a unique venture - establishing a small meat tuckshop to provide affordable meat portions to his community.

Since joining RightfulShare, Darryl's transformation has been remarkable. Through his dedication and hard work, he has not only improved his own circumstances but has also become a source of inspiration and opportunity for other young people in his community.

Our mission to address South Africa's dual crisis of work and welfare remains steadfast. With innovative solutions like crypto basic income and tailored support, we continue to disrupt the cycle of escalating income inequality and unemployment. Through exposure to blockchain technology and entrepreneurship, we empower young people to create new income opportunities and break the cycle of exclusion and poverty. Darryl’s story exemplifies the ripple effect of our positive impact made possible by your donation!

Thank you for your ongoing support.
