The community of Kaberamaido, Uganda is realizing the importance of education and the impact on the living standards of a community. As the program continues to grow and the students advance in their nursing education, the community now benefited as the students nurses volunteer at the local community hospital. The health care demands continue to grow as the local hospital in Kaberamaido is greatly under staffed with medical employees. The local government is encouraging the students to help
The community health care system in Kaberamaido, Uganda and the surrounding areas have a shortage in health care providers. Currently there is one nurse to every 20- 25 patients, the WHO recommends a 1:3 ratio. The local government has identified this issue and invited the student nurses in the Education for Hope program to volunteer their time to the local healthcare facilities during their school recesses and summer breaks
The students in the Education for Hope Program our proud young adults and active members in the community. As the students continue to advance in their level of nursing skills, the community benefits with their knowledge. The students assist local doctors with medical community clinics, provide education to community members and volunteer at the local hospital. The government has identified this issue and is planning to hire nurses from our program to improve the health standards.
The project will educate 100 + young adults in the medical field. Allowing the students to raise out of poverty and change the community health care standards. The increased medical knowledge of the young adults within the program and the founders of the Education for Hope program have assisted the local community leaders to identify the benefits of an improved healthcare system. The government is developing a longterm care action plan to assist the communities healthcare system.
