This project empowers over 500 deaf individuals across Pakistan to access inclusive workplaces through skill development, workplace readiness, and employer engagement. DWAF provides technical training, sign language support, job matching, and employer sensitization sessions to reduce communication barriers. By connecting trained deaf youth with inclusive employers, the project promotes dignified livelihoods, economic independence, and long-term inclusion in the workforce.
Deaf individuals face daily exclusion in workplaces due to communication barriers and lack of sign language awareness among staff. Most organizations are willing to hire deaf employees but lack the knowledge and tools to communicate effectively. Without basic sign language training and disability awareness, deaf professionals remain underutilized, isolated, and unable to fully participate or grow in inclusive work environments.
This project will deliver workplace-based awareness and advocacy sessions, along with basic sign language training for staff and management. By building communication skills and inclusive attitudes, organizations will be better prepared to engage deaf employees as equal team members. The initiative will reduce communication gaps, improve productivity, and enable deaf professionals to participate confidently and sustainably in inclusive workplaces.
By fostering sign language skills and inclusive practices in workplaces, this project will help normalize the hiring and retention of deaf professionals across sectors. Over time, it will create more accessible work environments, reduce stigma, and improve economic independence for deaf individuals. The model can be replicated nationwide, influencing long-term policy, corporate culture, and sustainable inclusion in Pakistan.
