Dear friend
From the team in which we are part, the indigenous and Afro-Mexican women of Oaxaca want to thank them for their kindness and for believing that projects such as can make a difference. You're part of this change.
During this period, we have worked to contact the friends and allies who are part of the feminist camp for girls who volunteer workshops, making self-management of the heart of this space continue to fall. We have designed and worked on our accompanying methodologies with indigenous girls, as well as in strengthening partnerships with women of Tlaxiaco Oaxaca in the Mixtec region of Oaxaca, where this meeting will take place for the third time.
We know that this year we will have free workshops for indigenous girls on digital security, self-care, feminist self-defense, feminist photography, sexual and reproductive rights, prevention of sexual abuse, among others, to support the prevention of violence from childhood. In a country called Mexico, where 10 women are killed a day.
So, thanks to people like you and many more who trust our work, we have quickly responded to COVID-19 by taking out basic food for indigenous girls and women who have accelerated without work or income, as it depends on informal activities such as selling handicrafts, sweets or working in small restaurants or serving as domestic workers. We also help teenagers in juvenile detention centers in Oaxaca. Thanks to generous people like you, we were able to benefit more than 30 families with pantries and maintain our physical office space where we work.
We hope that at the end of the year we will be able to find the conditions to carry out our project, since now the COVID-19 health crisis is at its highest point of contact in Oaxaca. We'll be giving news about our project, but we're sure that once we can get back on the street, we can hug again and smile.
Thank you for your generosity.
With gratitude our love.
Team Hand Round AC
Indira, Guille, Dyadha, Angels and Lau.
