From Self-Doubt to Self-Confidence: How Mentorship

One of the greatest rewards of our work is witnessing the remarkable transformation of the girls we serve. This quarter, one of our mentees, Tsovinar M., reflected on her journey with Nor Luyce:

"Before attending Nor Luyce, I was more reserved, had low self-confidence, and sometimes found it difficult to express my thoughts clearly. I didn’t like public speaking and was unsure about my abilities. The program helped me develop my communication skills, self-confidence, and ability to work in a team. I learned to express my thoughts more clearly, listen to others, and approach every task with responsibility. I participate with pleasure because the sessions are engaging, take place in a warm and supportive atmosphere, and always give me the opportunity to learn and try new things. Nor Luyce is important for teenagers because here they develop self-awareness, communication, leadership, and essential life skills. It helps them become more confident, responsible, and thoughtful individuals."

Stories like Tsovinar's remind us why mentorship matters. Behind every confident young woman is a journey of encouragement, learning, and meaningful relationships.

During this quarter, our Mentoring Phase continued to provide consistent, life-changing support. Our dedicated volunteer mentors and mentees held 753 one-on-one mentoring meetings, totaling 1,506 hours of personalized guidance and encouragement. Together, they also participated in 4 group sessions (8 hours), including one session designed exclusively for mentees. These interactive meetings focused on overcoming fears, resolving conflicts, developing empathy, and strengthening the bonds within the mentoring community.

At the same time, our mentors continued their own professional growth by participating in 6 advanced training sessions (12 hours). They explored topics including criminal personality typology, body language psychology, addiction awareness, emotional self-regulation, maintaining inner balance, and writing competitive CVs. By continuously investing in our mentors, we ensure they are equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to better support and inspire their mentees.

Girls in our Skill-Building Phase took another important step toward their futures by participating in 11 group sessions (22 hours). Throughout these workshops, they strengthened their career planning skills through professional orientation, competitive CV writing, interview preparation, workplace ethics, effective application writing, creative thinking, willpower development, and motivation-building activities.

Across both the Mentoring and Skill-Building phases, mentees also joined 4 program-wide group sessions (8 hours) dedicated to healthy lifestyles, personal hygiene, and essay writing - essential life skills that contribute to their overall well-being and future success.

Learning extended beyond the classroom. This quarter, our mentees participated in their first debate program, where they learned the fundamentals of respectful discussion, critical thinking, and public speaking. They also visited universities and educational institutions in both Yerevan and Gyumri, gaining firsthand knowledge about admission procedures, academic programs, and future educational opportunities.

Meanwhile, participants in our Higher Education Phase met with three successful actors (6 hours) and two well-known Armenian influencers (4 hours) who shared their personal journeys, inspiring our girls to dream bigger and believe in their own potential.

Because growth also happens through joy and connection, our proactive mentees enjoyed 6 hours of recreational activities featuring interactive, educational, cultural, and team-building games that strengthened friendships and created lasting memories.

Overall, more than 50 volunteer mentors and over 100 adolescent girls actively participated in our programs throughout the quarter. Every meeting, workshop, training, and conversation brought our mentees one step closer to becoming confident, resilient, and empowered young women.

Thank you for making these transformations possible. Your generosity is helping young girls discover their voices, build confidence, and create brighter futures for themselves and their communities. We are deeply grateful to have you as part of the Nor Luyce family.
