This project is towards the implementation of a 3 stage mentoring program in the 2024-2025 academic year, targeting 150 young women in the Shirak region of Armenia from socioeconomically vulnerable families, to help them to realize themselves, their goals and career aspirations, while equipping them with valuable career and scholastic skills, and to promote them as young professionals with the ability to change the future.
53.2% of children (13.2% of the population) in the Shirak region of Armenia live in poverty, the highest in all the country, according to the Statistical Committee of the Republic of Armenia. Children from socioeconomically vulnerable conditions face difficulties that influence behavioral problems, feelings of fear, & insecurity, influencing poor academic performance and lack of confidence / self-esteem, which inhibit the pursuit of their goals and dreams, exacerbated by gender discrimination.
Nor Luyce is a 3-phase mentoring program that empowers adolescent girls in Shirak, ages 13-16, from orphanages, refugees of NGK, and low-income families to lead more self-sufficient lives. Phase 1 - Personal Growth and Life Aspirations. Mentor-mentee pairs focus on self realization and stability. Phase 2 - Skill Building, Career Success and Global Vision. Mentees learn skills like resume writing & computer literacy. Phase 3 - Higher Education, Empowered through Education and Financial Literacy.
150 adolescent girls will become empowered successful women, acknowledging their own personal strengths, willpower, and their personality, while balancing relationships with peers and other members of society. Through enhancing their life skills and knowledge, they can follow dreams, career paths, becoming motivated and high ranking leaders within our society, promoting change. Through this, our girls will be an independent success, being an inspiration to the future young women of Armenia.
