Celebrating Impact And Combining Projects

Dear project supporters

Over the past 8+ years, we have together provided thousands of hours of training for youths and youth groups. During my last visit to Sierra Leone on July / August last year, the youths that I met enthusiastically expressed their deep gratitude and appreciation for your kind support.

Computer proficiency is increasingly essential for relevance in today's computer-driven society.  We are committed to continuing to empower youths and girls in this area.

Youths in the photos in this report are excitedly learning at computer classes covered by your gifts / donations. They are learning about setting up charts in Excel, as you can see from one of the photos.  The diverse skills they are acquiring, thanks to YOUR support, are helping to prepare them for a great future.

Looking Back: A few years ago, we attempted unsuccessfully to raise funds during a campaign to launch a computer lab in the Wellington suburb of Freetown. Thankfully, in 2015, we successfully launched another computer lab at a more central location, in Brookfields. This new lab initially provided computer training to pregnant girls / nursing mothers. We have recently opened this up to additional youths.

We are also providing computer training at a second computer lab at the FAWE school (launched in 2011). You can read more about this at the following link: Project on Computer Training for Girls.

Looking Ahead: Given that we have two projects with the same focus area - computer training, we have decided that it would be better to combine these two projects. This will streamline our efforts and eliminate some administrative reporting. With this in mind, we will be closing / phasing out this project and broadening the scope of the other project, in the next 1-2 weeks.

Future information and updates on computer training will be available at the following link - Project on Computer Training.  We invite you to subscribe to updates on this project or make a donation (as this will subscribe you to updates).

Thanks again for all your support.

Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

With deep appreciation
The Develop Africa team
