Thanks to your commitment to creating positive media more women and girls around the world have choices and opportunities.
53% of girls in Mozambique are married before their 18th birthday, leading to adverse outcomes for girls and communities alike. This month we're sharing the inspiring story of Jenna*, a courageous teen girl in Mozambique whose life has been transformed through the programs you generously help support.
We're excited to share Jenna's story below.
Jenna's Story:
"When I finished my studies, I had nothing to do, so my father tried to force me to get married. Now, I learn a lot, especially about issues related to girls. I have taken these teachings to the girls in my community,” said Jenna.
Like many girls in her area, once Jenna finished school, she didn’t have many paths forward. But our youth-led radio program, Ouro Negro da Malta, changed Jenna’s life.
“The show changed the way I look at my future. Before I was very limited, I almost had no dreams because I thought that I was incapable. Since I started producing the [radio] program, I put those thoughts aside and now I dream of being a teacher and I believe that I will fulfill this dream to make my family even more proud,” Jenna shared.
Jenna's experience as a radio producer has not only given her the chance to create a life of her own choosing but she also empowers other young women and girls in her community through the radio show.
Jenna's story is a testament to the profound impact of our programs on our listeners and radio producers. With your generous support, PCI Media continues to produce lasting change for millions of women and girls.
We're so grateful for your commitment to create a healthier, more sustainable, and just world with us.
Thank you!
