PCI Media has partnered with UNICEF Lebanon to address physical and mental violence, forced labor, and early marriage through two programs, focusing on violence against women and girls (VAWG) and children (VAWC).
In the first program, audiences will engage with puppet theater performances in a “Forum Theater” format to bring to life how changes in policy and social norms around child marriage can reduce violence against women and girls.
The second program uses interpersonal communications through barber shops and hair salons. In partnership with local organizations, barbers and hair dressers will be trained in communicating with their customers on these highly sensitive issues.
Why theater and salon conversations? Communication is a powerful tool for helping communities reshape the narratives about their essential values, needs, and rights as human beings that have for too long been relegated to predetermined traditional narratives.
Our program strategy uses proven social and behavior change methodologies to address deeply entrenched social norms, leveraging the combined power of broadcast media and the inspiration of storytelling to facilitate discussions that ultimately shift attitudes toward violence against women and girls, and all children.
Your support allows us to increase the reach of our programs. We’re so grateful for your engagement.
