Empowering Vulnerable Mothers: First Steps Toward

By Zahid Hussain Shar | Project Leader

Greetings to Our Supporters!

First and foremost, thank you. Thanks to your incredible generosity, we have raised $500 toward our $6,500 goal. This initial funding is not just a number—it is a beacon of hope for the vulnerable mothers in our community. It tells them that someone out there believes in their ability to rebuild their lives.

We are writing this report to share our progress, outline our immediate next steps, and reaffirm our commitment to transparency as we work to unlock the remaining funding needed to change these women's lives forever.

The Situation: Why This Project Matters

In our community, many single mothers and widows are trapped in a cycle of poverty. Without a skill or a way to earn an income, they struggle to afford basic food and medicine. Most critically, they are unable to pay for their children's school fees, perpetuating a cycle of poverty into the next generation.

These mothers want to work. They want to provide. They simply lack the tools and the training to do so.

How Your $500 is Making a Difference Right Now

While we haven't purchased the industrial sewing machines yet (our main goal), your $500 has allowed us to lay the essential groundwork for success. Here is how we have utilized these funds:

  1. Community Outreach & Beneficiary Identification ($150): We have conducted house-to-house visits in the most impoverished areas to identify the 15 most vulnerable mothers. We prioritized widows, mothers with disabled children, and those who are the sole breadwinners for their families. We have now selected the 15 women who will participate in the program.

  2. Securing the Training Venue ($200): We have paid a deposit to secure a local community center for the duration of the 6-week training program. This ensures we have a safe, dry, and central location for the classes once the machines arrive.

  3. Assessment of Local Tailors ($150): We have identified and hired a master tailor from the local market to design the training curriculum. He has assessed the current skill levels of our 15 selected mothers so that the training can be tailored to beginners.

Meet One of the Mothers You Are Helping

Name: Amina
Status: Widow and mother of three

Amina’s husband passed away two years ago. To survive, she washes clothes for neighbors, earning less than $1 per day. Her two youngest children have had to drop out of school because she cannot afford the $20 per term fees.

When we told Amina she was selected for the sewing program, she broke down in tears. "I have hands," she said, "I just need a chance to use them to feed my children."

Amina is why we started this project. Your support is keeping her hope alive.

The Road Ahead: Our Plan to Reach $6,500

We have the will, we have the venue, and we have the students. Now we just need the tools. To reach our goal, we need to raise the remaining $6,000.

Here is exactly where the money will go:

  • 15 Industrial Sewing Machines: ($5,000) The core tool for the mothers to start their businesses.

  • Starter Kits (Fabric, Thread, Scissors, Needles): ($750) To ensure they can begin taking orders immediately after training.

  • Trainer’s Stipend: ($500) Payment for the 6-week training course.

  • GlobalGiving Fees: ($250) To ensure the project runs smoothly.

The Impact of Full Funding:
Once fully funded, these 15 mothers will graduate from the training program. They will take their machines home, allowing them to start tailoring businesses from their doorsteps. With an average income of $3-$5 per day, they will be able to:

  • Feed their children three meals a day.

  • Re-enroll their children in school.

  • Gain dignity and respect in their community.

How You Can Help Us Reach the Finish Line

We are 8% of the way there, but 92% of the work remains. If you have already donated, please consider sharing our project link on your social media or with one friend who might be inspired by Amina’s story.

Together, we can turn a sewing machine into a school fees payment. Together, we can turn thread into a future.

Thank you for standing with vulnerable mothers.
