OUR PROJECT IS ACCELERATING EQUALITY & EMPOWERMENT

By Judith Ukagwu | Project Director

The theme for the International Women's Day 2023 is Embrace Equity. A statement on the International Women's Day website states "Equity isn't just a nice-to-have, it's a must-have. A focus on gender equity needs to be part of every society's DNA. It is critical to understand the difference between Equity and Equality. The aim of the IWD 2023 #EmbraceEquity campaign theme is to get the world talking about 'why equal opportunities aren't enough'."While "Equality" means each individual or group of people is given the same resources or opportunities," the IWD website said, "Equity" recognizes that each person has different circumstances and allocates the exact resources and opportunities needed to reach an equal outcome." The Beauty for Ashes project embodies this statement by ensuring that vulnerable women in Nigeria receive the resources and opportunities they need to thrive regardless of their circumstances.

Our project goal is to support vulnerable women such as widows, survivors of sexual or domestic violence, women living with disabilities to be able to rise above their challenges and live meaningful lives. We have been doing this by providing skills training, food items and psychosocial support to our target group in Nigeria

We have been able to reach a few women but need to increase our reach in 2023. This can only be possible if we have access to sufficient funds. Please continue to support our project so that together we can create an equitable world for underserved women in Nigeria.

Thank you.
