The poverty cycle can be broken when girls stay in school. But most rural Tamil girls could barely complete 5th Grade and are reluctant to get back to school after they attain puberty. Your support of this project provides girls quality washable sanitary pads and important reproductive health, hygiene, self-defense and sewing training.
School provides Tamil girls with the education they need for their life. Most rural girls have to travel a long distance to get to school and when they attain puberty they simply are left with no option but to stay at home during the menstrual days. Lack of education locks these children in a cycle of poverty. Ensuring access to school not only improves children's lives, but strengthens Tamil communities in the long-term.
We aim to break the cycle of poverty by increasing access to education through scholarships for vulnerable kids who would otherwise be unable to attend school and who are at risk of falling into poverty. Besides providing education on feminine hygiene the girls would also be receiving leadership training. Entrepreneurial skills of the rural girls would be nurtured by providing them with the support they need.
Girls remain in school allowing them to have access to continuous education. Entrepreneurial skills of the girls are nurtured right from their schools day and hence these girls have a wider chance of starting up their own business when grow up. The economy in the rural area would be developed by these girls besides their own families. Communities are empowered to discuss and provide feminine hygiene, health and sanitation for themselves and others.
