Dear Global Giving donor,
Since its inception in 2009, Fundacion Proacceso has opened 70 RIA centers and 25 Digital Libraries and benefited more than 400,000 users. Thanks to your support this year, we have been able to offer scholarships to single moms in order to empower them by education and help them change their life for good.
We thought you might want to hear it directly from a brave single mom that has benefited from our program,
My name is Maria Martha Guzman Alonso. I’m 54 years old and I am a single mom.
I have been at the RIA for approximately for 4 months. Since I decided to take this course, I feel much more confident in my educational, working and personal life. That’s because today half of the things are about the Iinternet.
What I like the most about the RIA is the way teachers relate to us. They give us the confidence we need in order to learn. I have a 10 year old niece that comes with me. Before she came, she would only play around. Now she’s learning a lot, and she’s very happy.
I thank my teachers for their patience and for teaching all of us –adults and kids. I am so pleased I’ve finished my course. It hasn’t been easy, but I have now more hope for the future. I’m looking forward to having my own computer.
In 2013, we plan to go on. As you know, the cost of offering quality education in marginalized community does not go away. We hope for your continued support in the future.
Once again, thank you for being a part of this life-changing program
