Help us empower women to build a small businesses and improve their family food security in Mozambique by supporting our chicken farming project. We are creating a sustainable system where women can raise chickens, provide nutritious food for their families, and earn a stable income. With your help, we can make a real difference in the lives of vulnerable women and children.
In Mozambique, many households are led by women who struggle to provide for their families. These women often face challenges like safety concerns, childcare responsibilities, and lack of resources. As a result, they have a harder time making ends meet and ensuring their children are well-nourished and healthy. In Mozambique, 43% of children under five are stunted, and 6% are acutely malnourished. These statistics highlight the urgent need for better nutrition and food security.
We will help women start small chicken farms by providing training, chicks, and the necessary equipment. Chickens are an ideal solution because they are easy to raise, require minimal resources, and can be a quick source of income. Chickens produce eggs and meat, which are excellent sources of protein and essential nutrients. This helps improve child nutrition, reducing malnutrition and stunting. Additionally, women can sell surplus eggs and chickens in the local market, generating income.
1. More families will have access to nutritious eggs and chicken meat, leading to better health and reduced malnutrition among children. 2. Women will earn extra income, which they can use to pay for things like school fees, healthcare, and other household necessities, improving overall family welfare. 3. The community will benefit from healthier, more empowered women who can take on leadership roles and make better decisions for their families, fostering a cycle of positive change.
