Brighter Futures for Vulnerable Children" will support poor and vulnerable children in Mayuge District, Uganda, who face barriers to education, adequate nutrition, healthcare, protection, and basic necessities. The project will provide education support, essential school materials, nutritious food, child protection, psychosocial support, and community awareness. Families and community leaders will be actively engaged to strengthen child well being and create safer, supportive environments.
The main problem is persistent poverty and vulnerability among children in Mayuge District, particularly in rural communities where many families depend on subsistence farming and have limited incomes. Children face difficulties accessing education, school materials, adequate food, healthcare, and safe living conditions. Some are exposed to neglect, child labor, abuse, and early school dropout. These challenges limit their development and future opportunities, reinforcing the cycle of poverty.
The project will address child poverty and vulnerability through an integrated community-based approach. It will provide vulnerable children with school materials and education support, nutritious food, basic healthcare referrals, and psychosocial and child-protection support. Families will receive awareness and guidance on child rights, positive parenting, and available community services. Schools, local leaders, and caregivers, will work together to identify children in great need.
The project will contribute to a lasting reduction in child poverty and vulnerability in Mayuge District. Vulnerable children will have improved access to education, nutrition, healthcare, protection, and psychosocial support, enabling them to grow into healthy, skilled, and self-reliant adults. Stronger families and community structures will be better equipped to protect and support children. Improved school retention and reduced child labor, neglect, and reduction in early school dropout.
