During 2025, 10 projects were implemented as part of the Agroecological School Gardens program in different regions of the country.
Each project included the provision of seeds, seedlings, soil, tools, and construction materials, which were sourced from local suppliers. As part of this support, schools were provided with a guide of activities to carry out during the year, which are aligned with planting times and the school curriculum.
Educational workshops were also offered to teachers, management teams, and families to promote healthy eating and provide tools to replicate these initiatives in their homes, consolidating the school garden as an educational space.
Sowing the Future
At the Foundation, we take on the role of facilitators and companions, providing resources and guidance so that each project is sustainable over time, with the community as the main protagonist. We believe that education is a transformative tool, capable of generating real opportunities for change. There are still many needs to be addressed in order to strengthen these garden projects and enhance their impact on communities.
Open-air classroom
Each school carried out the construction of its garden and the planting of fruit trees together with its communities, taking ownership of the project, putting down roots, and strengthening networks with other institutions.
In 2025, we reached more than 2500 children and directly trained 948 people (449 children, 210 teachers, 231 community members, and 58 parents).
Our impact in numbers
As part of each initiative we carry out, we conduct a survey with families in each community. 61.5% of the families surveyed stated that children consume and are more familiar with fruits and vegetables thanks to the school garden.
In addition, 62.7% of families said that this was the first time they had received training on healthy eating.
These data reinforce the value of school gardens as a key tool for strengthening food security, promoting healthy habits, and supporting sustainable change processes in educational communities.
In 2026, we will continue working with these school gardens to sustain this impact over time and reach more and more students and families. We have also already identified new schools with which we will continue planting the seeds for the future!
