Throughout this year, we were able to carry out the planned actions in the schools. It has been a year full of learning, vegetables, and smiles, where we were able to build and support garden projects in different schools throughout the country.
We understand that gardens not only allow for food production and promote food sovereignty in communities, but also serve as educational projects where valuable lessons are learned about community agriculture, healthy eating, and caring for the environment.
That is why our support for schools is not only based on construction, but also on the development of workshops for students, teachers, and families. We also create and distribute educational materials so that teachers can work in the garden with their students.
Results that motivate our mission
This year, we surveyed the families of the schools we support, and the results revealed some very interesting findings.
90.6% believe that having a garden at school is positive for their children.
61.8% of families believe that thanks to the school garden, their children consume and learn about more fruits and vegetables.
62.7% of families indicated that it was the first time they had received information or support on healthy eating.
Our work at School 14 in Amberes, Tucumán.
As an example of all of the above, in the last quarter of the year we were working at School 14, located in the rural community of Amberes in Tucumán. We supported this school by providing materials and supplies for the garden, such as soil, seeds, seedlings, and fruit trees.
We also repaired their greenhouse to ensure that students can work in the garden all year round, regardless of inclement weather, and that food production is maintained throughout the year.
We also held an agroecological gardening workshop for teachers from rural schools in the area to train them in these topics.
