Thank you for helping us empower women like Lila!

By Nepal Youth Foundation | Project Leader

From all of us at the Nepal Youth Foundation, thank you so much for your generous gifts in support of this project. Today, we are thrilled to not only provide a brief update on the impact of your support – but also share that it’s #GivingTuesday!

If you are not already a recurring donor (thank you, if you are!), we hope you’ll help us #MoveAMillion by making a generous contribution to this project.  Your donation will help NYF provide vocational training skills and career support for women in Nepal.

For example, earlier this year, Lila* applied for and enrolled in our agricultural training program after hearing about the opportunity through word of mouth. Lila, who has five children with her husband, owns a small plot of land, which she was using seasonally to grow some rice and wheat. Most of the time, however, their land was not being used. After finishing her training with NYF, Lila was able to construct a greenhouse and is now growing a variety of highly marketable vegetables: tomatoes, bitter gourd, cucumber, pumpkin, and cauliflower.

Her vegetables are being sold to markets in large cities, and contractors have even been coming to her doorstep to collect her products. Sometimes, the demand for her vegetables is higher than she can fulfill!

As a result, Lila can afford a better education for each of her five children. She shares with us, “The economic independency that I am gaining from greenhouse farming has made me confident in every aspect.” We’re thrilled that she’s even thinking about expanding this year!

We’re so thankful to you for making this all possible.

This GivingTuesday, GlobalGiving has prepared $1.2 million in Incentive Funds — meaning eligible gifts (up to $2,500 per unique donor per organization) will count towards earning a portion of that fund.

Please consider making a #GivingTuesday gift to this project today to help empower more women like Lila to become financially independent. Thank you and Dhanyabad!
