This project establishes a solar-powered cold-chain microgrid and vocational training hub in Namayingo, Uganda, providing sustainable agricultural support, nutritional meals, and skills training to 200 vulnerable families.
In the Namayingo District of Uganda, smallholder farming households face severe food insecurity and post-harvest losses. According to local assessments, over 200 vulnerable families and children suffer from chronic nutritional gaps and limited economic opportunities due to a lack of cold-chain refrigeration and modern agricultural resources. Without reliable storage and sustainable farming inputs, these households face continuous risks of severe poverty and crop spoilage.
Mercy of God Mission provides solar-powered cold-chain refrigeration and agricultural resources to protect harvests and reduce food insecurity in Namayingo. The project delivers certified disease-resistant crop cuttings, hands-on vocational training, and essential nutritional support to 200 vulnerable families and children, equipping them with the tools needed for sustainable self-reliance.
This project will permanently solve chronic food insecurity and post-harvest losses by equipping 200 vulnerable families in Namayingo with reliable solar cold-chain infrastructure and sustainable vocational training. Over the long term, these families will achieve year-round agricultural income, improved children's nutrition, and lasting economic self-reliance, building permanent community resilience against climate challenges.
