We need more environmental leaders! Let's empower local people in Costa Rica and motivate them to protect nature. Let's help them discover new opportunities to develop their communities in a sustainable way. This is posible with the help of Neotropica's Center for Studies and Community Empowerment, through it we are able to accompany locals as well as outsiders in the development of a sustainable living.
Although the Center has helped over 10,000 people from around the world who have become environmental leaders, these more than 20 years of use have deteriorated the Center's infrastructure and has diminished the quality of the services it provides. There is a lack of financial resources for the maintenance of the buildings, books and computers. This keeps the staff from working along with communities to achieve a sustainable growth and to fully take advantage of the benefits the Center provides.
Providing people with a space to create, share and develop sustainable solutions to the economic, social and environmental challenges that Osa Peninsula faces, requires a strong and capable staff, infrastructure, organization and resources. Neotropica requires a financial boost to maintain the Center and maximize the beneficial services that it provides. The financial help will go to infrastructure improvement, have more computers available and develop new educational programs.
Financial aid will benefit local leaders who are passionate and dedicated to the development of their communities(The Osa region which represents 2.5% of world biodiversity in one of the poorest areas of Costa Rica). It will also help four local organizations including fishermen and rural tourism groups which reaches over one hundred families. With the support of every donation we can expand our efforts in providing environmental education for ten schools and their 200 children.
