Pavithra, who studies at the Cuddalore Isha Vidhya school, was a student at a local English medium school. Her father works as an agricultural worker, which does not yield regular, steady income. With a single income in the family, he was not able to pay the school fees. There was no scholarship provided by the school either. So, he had put her daughter in a Government High School in the 4th grade. After a while, he came to know about Isha Vidhya, and checked to see eligibility for scholarship. Because of eligibility, he got scholarship for his daughter.
Pavithra’s father is a happy person now because he need not worry about the scholarship, and because his daughter is getting quality education.
Pavithra shares, “The atmosphere here is totally different and positive. The teachers here are very kind and friendly. I dream to become an IAS officer.”
We hope that with the education support that Isha Vidhya provides, Pavithra would be able to work towards her dreams!
Isha Vidhya runs rural schools in 8 rural locations in the southern state of Tamilnadu, and 1 rural location in Andhra Pradesh. Quality education in English medium is provided, integrated with computer education and extra-curricular activities, life-skills and Yoga. 60% of the students are under scholarships, rest pay nominal fees. Noon-meal and safe bus transportation are provided to the students. If you or anyone that you know of would like to be part of this effort, a recurring donation for a small amount can be considered.
