By Nancy A/Jo Ann C | Positive Teens On the Run Update
Thanks to you, 65 charitable donors have brought $5,657 directly to Positive Teens on the Run. The teens’ comments speak for themselves:
“I am grateful…they (donors) make me forget my troubles.”
“I am strong… I am proud.”
“ Do they know we are HIV+?”
“I will do well for everyone.”
Your encouragement has given each one of our runners a sense of dignity and the renewed desire to motivate other HIV+ teens to live healthy, active lifestyles. Their commitment to dispel the stigma attached to being HIV+ is inspiring.
We are thrilled to tell you that your contributions have given these youngsters more than simply money for a race. You are teaching them ‘responsibility’, ‘planning strategy’, and ‘money management’. The teens have decided to use a portion of money raised, as seed money to create a self-sustaining running program. Discussion about the details takes priority at their meetings and we will keep you posted on their decisions and progress. Their enthusiasm is infectious. Stay tuned!
