Our new mission statement, “turning periods into pathways”, is more than a catchy marketing phrase. It is our driving force to change the narrative from one of silence to celebration. To empower every women and girl -- and yes, men too -- with the knowledge to ensure every girl, everywhere, has what she needs when she starts menstruation. No longer will she be afraid when she sees blood, nor be isolated and alone because she doesn’t have supplies to go to school. But where do you start? What path forward will help us reach this goal?
It starts with our DfG Launchpad. Haven't heard of it? Neither had the seven women and one man who had a desire to make a difference but didn’t know where to begin. These amazing and passionate leaders who you helped support with your donations are changing lives all throughout Africa.
Because of your donations, Days for Girls was able to provide our DfG Launchpad program this past month. Participants arrived at our Uganda office from as far away as Ethiopia, Malawi, and Kenya to become DfG Enterprise leaders. One woman brought her 3 week old infant. And with open arms and hearts, the DfG team was ready with a full two week curriculum to teach sewing, health education, soap making, business skills and lots of storytelling.
Once the training was done, they set off to begin their own DfG Enterprise and share their knowledge with their local community. This model allows them to become the next generation of leaders who will ensure silence is ended for good. Thank you for being a significant partner in reaching our goal.
