Skills and Therapy Bring Hope to Families

During this quarter, caregivers participated in basket-weaving training, where they learned practical skills to make baskets used for cooking and household purposes. Through these sessions, caregivers gained valuable knowledge that can help them generate income and improve their household livelihoods. The training also provided a platform for caregivers to share experiences, encourage one another, and build confidence in their abilities.

In addition, children  received physiotherapy services aimed at improving mobility, posture, muscle strength, and overall well-being. Caregivers were also trained on simple exercises and positioning techniques they can continue practicing at home, enabling them to play a more active role in their children's development.

A Story of Hope

One of the caregivers who participated in the project is a mother of a seven-year-old child with cerebral palsy. Before joining the program, she often felt isolated and overwhelmed by the challenges of caring for her child. Through the basket-weaving training, she acquired a new skill and began making baskets that she can use at home and eventually sell for additional income.

At the same time, her child benefited from regular physiotherapy sessions. She shared that she has noticed improvements in her child's movement and comfort and now feels more confident supporting the exercises at home. "I now have hope that my child can continue improving, and I have learned a skill that can help support my family," she said.

Stories like hers remind us that when caregivers are empowered, children with disabilities have a greater opportunity to reach their potential.

Thank you for making these life-changing interventions possible. Together, we are improving the lives of children with cerebral palsy and strengthening the families who care for them.
