*Strengthening Science Education Through a Biology Lab*
At Hope for Kids, our 520+ children love science. They dream of becoming doctors, nurses, and farmers.
But dreams without practicals die.
For years, our children learned Biology by cramming notes. No lab. No microscope. No specimens. They passed theory, but they did not understand life.
We are now Strengthening Science Education Through a Biology Lab - so our children don't just read science, they see it, touch it, and live it.
*The Problem We Faced Before:*
- 0 microscopes for 520+ children
- 0 lab coats, 0 specimens
- Biology taught on blackboard only
- Science performance: 32% pass rate
- Girls feared science - "It's for boys"
*How We Are Strengthening Science Education Through a Biology Lab:*
*1. A Simple Biology Corner Becoming a Lab:*
We cleared one classroom. We are equipping it with 5 microscopes, charts, models of human body, and local specimens. 520+ children will now see cells, not just imagine them.
*2. Learning By Doing, Not Memorizing:*
200+ children already did their first practical - seeing onion cells under a microscope for the first time. One child shouted, "So this is what life looks like!"
*3. Girls Leading in Science:*
180 girls now have safe access to the lab. With dignity kits and confidence, 45 girls have joined the Science Club. They now say, "We can be doctors."
*4. Training Teachers to Teach Science Better:*
Our 8 teachers are being trained to teach Biology practically, using local materials - leaves, soil, water from the community.
*The Result:*
- Science pass rate is now growing from 32% to 58% in just one term
- Attendance in science lessons is 95%
- 45 children who hated Biology now love it
*But our lab is still half-empty. We still need:*
- More microscopes
- Lab coats for children
- Biology models and charts
- Specimens and reagents
- Lab tables and stools
