*Preparing for a Hopeful Return to School*
School opens in 2 weeks. For many children, return to school is stressful. For our children, we are preparing for a hopeful return to school.
A return where no child is chased home.
A return where no child learns hungry.
A return where every girl comes every day.
A return where every child has books.
*How We Are Preparing for a Hopeful Return:*
*1. We are preparing uniforms for 150 children:*
We are washing, mending, and buying new uniforms so 150 children return looking smart and feeling confident - not in torn clothes.
*2. We are preparing food for 200+ children:*
We are stocking maize flour, beans, and sugar so 200+ children return to a hot cup of porridge on day one. No child will learn hungry this term.
*3. We are preparing fees for 45 children:*
We are clearing school fees balances so 45 children return without fear of being sent home before the bell rings.
*4. We are preparing dignity kits for 180 girls:*
We are packing pads, underwear, and soap so 180 girls return with hope that they will not miss any day this term.
*5. We are preparing books and pens for 150 children:*
We are buying books so no 5 children share one book again. Every child will have their own to write in.
*6. We are preparing shelter for 12 children:*
We are cleaning and preparing our shelter home so 12 formerly homeless children return from holidays to a safe place to sleep and study.
*Total: 520+ children are preparing for a hopeful return because we are preparing for them.*
But we are not yet fully prepared. We still need:
- Food stock for full term for 200+ children
- Pads for 180 girls for full term
- Books for 370 children still without
- Fees for 45 children still pending
- Our own classrooms to return to
