At Hope for Kids, we learned this truth: Words create worlds.

A child told "You are stupid" will believe he is stupid and stop learning.
A child told "You can do it" will try again and start learning.

So we chose to use words that create worlds of hope - giving children hope to learn.

*The Worlds Our Words Create:*

*Before: "Go home, you have not paid"*
World created: Fear, shame, dropout. 45 children left school.

*Now our words: "Welcome, your fees are paid, you belong here"*
World created: Hope to learn. 45 children now stay before the bell rings.

*Before: "You have no uniform, hide at the back"*
World created: Shame, low confidence.

*Now our words: "You look smart in your uniform, you are equal"*
World created: Confidence. 150 children now raise hands.

*Before: Silence when 200+ children learned hungry*
World created: "Nobody cares if we learn"

*Now our words: "Come eat first, then learn - we care"*
World created: Hope that tomorrow will be better. Attendance rose from 65% to 92%.

*Before: Girls whispered, "We are cursed" when periods came*
World created: 180 girls missed school 5 days every month.

*Now our words: "You are strong, you are dignified, never miss school"*
World created: Dignity. Girls now learn every day with pads we provide.

*Before: 12 homeless children heard, "No room for you"*

*Now they hear: "You have a home, you have a dream"*
World created: Hope to learn and dream again.

*Words create worlds. We chose to create a world where 520+ children have hope to learn.*
