GABA HOPE FOR KIDS (GAHOK)
Narrative Report - August 2026
THEME: WE HAVE NOT LOST OUR MISSION
1. Introduction
We have not lost our mission. Since 2019, our mission has been one: to give hope, education and food to unprivileged children from the slum. Many challenges have come, but we have not lost our mission.
2. Our Mission Still Stands
Our mission is:
To provide quality education, daily meals, love and protection to vulnerable children so they become responsible citizens.
We still stand on it:
- We still teach even when classrooms leak
- We still feed even when we cook in open space
- We still protect girls even when we have no toilets
- We still give hope when families have lost hope
3. Why People Thought We Would Lose Our Mission
- Rented land threatened us to close
- Rains destroyed classes, food, books
- No toilets, no kitchen, no fence
- Many children to feed daily with no stable income
- Rising prices and many orphans joining daily
But we did not lose our mission.
4. How We Have Kept Our Mission Alive
A) Education Continues:
Children still learning. Term 2, 2026 attendance 95% despite hard conditions.
B) Feeding Continues:
One porridge and posho with beans daily. No child learns on empty stomach.
C) Construction Continues:
We secured permanent land. Foundation for 2 classrooms done. Walls going up. This is our permanent home.
D) Girls Protection Continues:
Pads donation, mentorship and boys sensitization continues. Girls remain in school during periods.
E) Love Continues:
Children with disabilities, child mothers, HIV affected - all welcomed without discrimination.
5. What Keeps Our Mission Strong
- Community ownership: Mothers carry water, mold bricks, cook
- Volunteers: Teachers teach even when salary delays
- You: Friends who give monthly without getting tired
- Children: Their smile and dream keeps us going
6. Challenges Trying To Shake Our Mission
- Overcrowding - many children per room
- No safe toilets
- Open kitchen - rain stops food
- Scholastic materials not enough
- Transport to permanent site difficult in rains
7. Next Steps - Keeping Our Mission To December 2026
- Complete 2 classrooms walls and roof them
- Build kitchen and toilets for dignity
- Keep feeding, pads and books programs running
- Shift lower classes to permanent site in December
8. Our Promise
We have not lost our mission. We will not lose our mission.
For our children, our center is their only hope. We will continue building, teaching and feeding until every child has a safe classroom, a toilet, a kitchen and a future.
Thank you for keeping our mission alive.
"We started with few children under a tree. Today we are many. We have not lost our mission. We have grown it."
Thanks for being our amplifiers and sharing our projects with friends and family God bless you abundantly.
