In Uganda, children encounter formidable barriers to education, including poverty, gender inequality, child marriage, and inadequate access to menstrual health products. These challenges prevent many families from educating their children, stifling potential and undermining entire communities. In 2005, an estimated 45 million children in sub-Saharan Africa had lost one or both parents, with 13 million orphaned due to AIDS (USAID, UNAIDS, & UNICEF, 2005). Addressing these issues is crucial.
The Busoro Project's dedicated health and social workers proactively identify the most vulnerable children in the community. We enroll these children in various programs focused on education, livelihoods, and health. Our youth attend nursery, primary, secondary, and tertiary institutions, while younger children reside at the orphanage. Each child receives the opportunity for an education, three nutritious meals daily, access to safe, clean drinking water, and free basic medical care.
By uniting to support the most vulnerable children, the Busoro Project can create a transformative impact on the entire community. When children are safe and nourished, their guardians can concentrate on breaking free from the cycle of extreme poverty. The organization's training programs and investments in small businesses foster sustainable change.
