Thanks to your support, we empowered 60 small-scale farmer families with sustainable agriculture in Oaxaca!
We are very happy because thanks to you, we have more farmers involved in the ecological agriculture method for amaranth and other crops for their own consumption, and also to generate new ways of income for their families and communities. In this way, they are improving the health of the families and the children will have a better future.
Beyond supporting the cultivation of amaranth, we are linking farmers with our regional processing centers to enable small-scale farmers to transform their crops into ready-to-eat products, including popped amaranth, alegrias, cookies, flour, as well as a number of other products.
We will continue to identify new opportunities to address important needs in the communities where we work.
“Through Puente workshops, we have learned that amaranth is a nutritious food for the whole family, as it is a good source of vitamins and proteins, and also contains many nutrients. We plant amaranth and eat the seeds and leaves in the rainy season. People ask us why we choose amaranth, and we tell them that our experience has shown that amaranth really helps malnourished children. At the end of the day, we are responsible for providing a healthy diet for our children." A participant from La Mixteca.
Soon we will be launching a new campaign because there is still a lot to be achieved in Oaxaca. We would be most grateful for your continued support.
Thank you so much!
Puente team.
