To improve the public facilities more disable-people-friendly, it's vital improtant for the people with disabilities to participate the supervision of the carrier-free facilities. By organizing the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities(CRDP) workshop and invited experienced carrier-free facilities supervisor to share the know-how and experience about supervising the carrier-free facilities.
After the workshop, we encouraged the participants to practice what they had learned from the workshop. Wearing the vest with The Person with Disabilities Association logo, they went to public places like parks, squares, gardens, etc. Though they are inexperienced in practicing supervision of the carrier-free facilities, this practice trip ignited their passion and glowed their path. Helped by the experienced supervisor, they studied the carrier-free facilities carefully and discussed enthusiastically. Returning to the workshop, they shared their findings and experiences of this practice trip. It turned out that practices like this not only empower their capabilities, but build their confidence about life and themselves. Participant A shared: “It’s not so hard to supervise the carrier-free facilities with peers. I found I am not alone and I had the power to change something.” By overcoming the impediment physically, the psychological impediment has also been thawed.
