Empower 50 Disable People in China

One of the difficulties facing by the disable people is that the ill-built infrastructures and public facilities  hinder them from going outside. Trapped in the rooms, the disable people  suffer from  physiological and psychological impact. Though they can move around indoors, their exposure to sunshine and fresh air is far less than usual people, no to mention the opportunities to access to nuature. To make things worser, since they could not go outside and be seen by the public, the government and the public do not think it's worth investing in buildiing barrier-free public infrastructures and facilities, which makes the disable people harder and harder to go outdoors.  The best way to break such vicious circle is to help the disable people to go outside. By going outside, the disable can not only improve their health physiologically and psychologically, but also can improve the awareness of the government and the public about necessity of building barrier-free infrastructures and facilities. 

We worked with the disable association closely to organize the disablel people to go outside, including trans-districts travelling. In October, 9 disable people were organized and went to Nanchang, the capital of Jiangxi province from Jiujiang. They wen to tourist scenes, experienced the subway system and visited the barrier-free facilities in Nanchang. 

This is their first time to Nanchang and they feel very excited about this journey, which encourage us to orgaize more disable people to go to futher.
