Community Children Foundation organized 3-day sex education camps for 2 groups of youth leaders in Mukdahan between 22 - 27 August 2016 where 143 youngsters of grade 6 – 12 from 7 schools attended. The sessions were held to equip our youths with more knowledge on sexual health, better understanding on safe sex, skills on sharing and giving advice to their peers, producing public relations materials, organizing activities to campaign the cause, and network coordinating.
The training focused on sharing knowledge and experiences among the youths; brainstorming, practicing sex-related communicational skill, organizing activities for sex education campaign, teamwork, ability to face and handle problems, and making materials for campaign publicity. There was a relaxed atmosphere in the training where the sound of laughter was heard throughout the sessions. Fun activities and friendly sporting games were also included as part of the event to create good relationship among all.
“This camp was fun. I’ve gained more experience and understand sex-related issues much better now. Apart from knowledge, I also learned how to make effective talk when it comes to sex topic, how to make posters for the campaign, how to set up exhibition booth, how to create online page, and how to organize appropriate activities that suit our peers in different age groups,” said one of youth leaders, 17, Grade 11.
At the end of the event, lead teachers and CCF staff encouraged the young attendants both old and few faces to work together as a team in promoting good understanding of sex education for youths in their communities. This boosted good relationship among them as well as strengthening their network.
Mukdahan’s sex education camp is one of the activities that provide CCF’s youth leaders information and good understanding on sex topics. The events are to be organized in 5 provinces; Ubon, Loei, Mukdahan, Buriram, and Payao.
These worthwhile youth camps can only happen with the help of our donors and sponsors. You give the great gift to the youngsters; opportunity to shine as community leaders, volunteer spirit, and ability to look after themselves, their families and friends regarding sex issues. Your unfailing love and continual support is well appreciated by us all here in CCF family.
