This project focuses on training young Nigerians in monetizable Tech skills that will give them the expertise and economic empowerment to lead decent lives. The "why" of this initiative is that unemployment and poverty are top of the reasons why Nigerians delve into various societal vices like thuggery, fraud, drug abuse, etc. Having begun this project in two Nigerian communities and seen its impact, we now eagerly aim to increase our reach with a target of at least 3500 youths by Q2 2025.
With a poverty rate of 38.9% as of 2023, millions of young Nigerians to date are left to their fate in battling the much-dreaded unemployment and poverty ravaging the country. These often potential-full youths then resort to unethical means to survive when they can no longer bear the frustration, resulting in a society plagued with hunger, insecurity, and crimes. Tackling the problem of unemployment and poverty in Nigeria will mean surmounting two of its biggest challenges ever.
This 100% scholarship training addresses the problem in two efforts. First, we assign successful scholarship awardees- based on their chosen choice of skill- to our partnering Tech experts and closely monitor them to ensure maximum impact. Secondly, we provide post-training support by awarding certifications and recommendations. We also facilitate the donation of laptops, internships/employment opportunities, and basic funding to support meriting youths start their digital business.
This project will economically empower at least 3500 young Nigerians to practically utilize the power of technology to earn a living for themselves and their families. It will also foster an enabling mental condition for them to contribute positively to their communities. Potential long-term impacts include reduced unemployment and poverty, economic innovation, lowered crime and insecurity rates, improved standard of living, and a more digitally-driven youth workforce in Nigeria.
