Introduction
This report will cover the activities of supporting 200 teen mothers in Rwanda as organized and executed by Together for the Children between July 2024 to December 2024.
Activities and their implementation
The activities done in this period was to empower 30 teen mothers with vocational skills in two trades that include, graphic art and decoration and tailoring.
Among these members, 6 of them joined graphic art and decoration training while the remaining 24 are training tailoring and fashion designs.
On 21st Dec, 2024 these members have completed their school based training, after two weeks of holiday they will be into company based training that will take them three months and finalize with their course of training that will be equivalent to nine months training.
We are expected to keep supporting these member through their company based training, by providing with them consumable materials that will be used for throughout their course.
Interesting story
One of these teen mothers called Deborah NSENGIMANA in the trade of tailoring, testified that after getting pregnant at the young age, she thought to herself that there was no hope for a better life but after completing the school based training, she has now hope and confidence I herself that she can do something that can help her feed the family and develop herself financially too if she gets a support to start herself a small business.
Challenges
The challenges that we are likely to encounter with while implementing this activity, is the financial support to finance the final stage of this program by providing startup capital and tool kit to help these trainees sustain themselves through what they have been trained with.
