This project is a Free Skill Acquisition Program, to be held in Southern Nigeria. It aims at training two hundred (200) indigent and unemployed Nigerian youths in skill areas of interest and empower them with the necessary tools to begin their own trade and be self employed.
Crime is on the increase in Nigeria today because so many youths are jobless. Little is done to support Government efforts to engage the thoughts and energies of the youths. They have great potentials to create jobs for themselves and others, but cannot afford the cost of training. We believe, if given the opportunity, they will be resourceful to themselves and the local community. This project focuses on Oleh community and environs in Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta State, Nigeria.
This project hopes to train 200 youths in these specific trade areas: Bead making, Hair Dressing, computer training, Tailoring, Photography, Videography, Instrumentation, Hair cutting, making of cosmetics, making Ankara bags and shoes; catering and confectioneries; interior and Exterior decoration. We hope to give each participant a tool relating to the trade learnt. The training and the gifts will help participants to be self employed, owning their own businesses and training other youths.
The project will educate and empower the youths allowing them to rise out of poverty, These youths would become our skill vendors to train other unemployed youths. This cycle would increase job opportunities and develop the economy of the nation. When the youths are engaged meaningfully in this way youth restiveness and crime would be reduced and people would live in peace and harmony.
