This project takes action against the lack of economic opportunities in Spain and makes the most of the potential of unemployed educated and talented women by supporting them in transforming their business ideas into a professional business plan and by providing them with business advice and mentoring. By the end of the program, the participants will be able to create new successful businesses, which means new opportunities for themselves, their families and the whole community.
Despite of an incipient economic recovery in Spain, there are still 5,444,600 of unemployed. Women keep being the most affected, with higher percentages of unemployment than men and much more difficulties in reentering the labor market once out of it. Long-term unemployment and the related lack of opportunities for women to fully participate in the economy can lead to health problems, poverty and social and economic marginalization. This project will give 20 unemployed women a new chance.
We will translate the business ideas of 20 unemployed women into professional BUSINESS PLANS. They will be also provided with MENTORING and supported in developing a CANVAS and a LEAN STARTUP. They will be ready for successfully starting a business and contributing to job creation through the employment of other women (multiplier effect). Indirectly this capacity building will restore women's self confidence and help them believe in their dreams, help them believe that they can succeed.
The project contributes to economic growth and job creation through the promotion of entrepreneurship and the economic empowerment of women. Well functioning and growing start-ups activate the economy and economically empowered women increase the welfare of their whole families. The project also reinforces women's participation in business organisations, as the participants might enter the AFAEMME network and therefore access new business opportunities and additional support.
