We are pleased to share with you the latest news about our Youth House Program. The effort carried out by the 19 young men living in the house is materialized through a high variety of educational, recreational and sport activities, which shall help to heal the wounds of street life and violence these young men had suffered and achieve a successful independent life. The positive progresses in the youth are the result of close teamwork, in which you as donor play a fundamental role. Your valuable contributions make it possible to keep on working and support these young men!
In the last three months the 19 Youth House residents attended various workshops to strengthen their social, emotional and professional skills. They participated for instance in media management, engraving and art workshops which took place at the Amparo Museum and the Erasto Cortés Museum located in Puebla. Likewise, trainings in personal finances, Mexican labor law, leadership, food processing and nutrition were hold. Sport activities such as swimming and tenis lessons and soccer matches were also part of the life of the Youth House residents.
On July 20th, we organzied the annual JUCONI Youth Day in which around 50 boys and girls of the three JUCONI subprograms participated and enjoyed a day of coexistence and integration, through educational workshops, sport and recreational activities.
We focus on building healthy environments free of violence
Besides our direct work with vulnerable young population, JUCONI also puts high emphasis on contributing the recognition and fulfillment of the Rights of Children and Adolescents in Mexico and all around the world. JUCONI is a founding member of the Mexican network Alliance for Children and Family (AIFAM); is part of the National System for Comprehensive Protection of Children and Adolescents (SIPINNA) in Puebla; participates in the global alliance Family for Every Child, in the Network for the Rights of Children in Mexico (REDIM) and in the Network for Children and Adolescents in Puebla (RIA), as well as the organization played an active role in the promulgation of the federal law known as ´General Law of the Rights of Children and Adolescents´ enacted in 2015 and in four state laws (Guanajuato, Puebla, Veracruz and the Civil Code of Veracruz).
Moreover, we are very interested in our young people getting actively involved in the advocacy actions we carry out. At the beginning of July, two teenagers of the JUCONI Youth House, accompanied by our CEO, Isabel M. Crowley and two educators traveled to Cancun, Quintana Roo to participate in the First Dialogue in Mexico and Latin America between Judges of the Superior Court of Justice and children and adolescents, called "#SiYoFueraJuez to promote their rights an share their opinion with high judicial authority.
We keep on working!
The different scenarios in which we act and work help us strengthen our vision in preventing and eradicating violence inflicted upon children around the world.
However, our efforts cannot bear fruit without your support. Thanks to your generous donations we have been able to raise the amount of $ 31,874.00USD. With each contribution, the JUCONI team gets closer to break cycles of violence by positively affecting lives of young people and executing actions aimed to implement and promote the Rights of Children and Adolescents. Hence, we invite you to continue our journey together!
Thank you for your support, confidence and generosity.
Sincerely,
The JUCONI Team
