Looking back on JUCONI's Global Giving journey in 2016, we are delighted to say that it was a fantastic year. In 2016, our project raised $9,945 USD and we received $4,522 USD through Global Giving-driven funds, bonus prizes, matching money, corporate partnerships and marketing efforts. We could activate 24 new donors to support our project and participated in 2 Global Giving Campaigns and contest.
Finally, we got invited to raise our total project goal from $30,500USD up to $40,000USD which gives us the opportunity to continue our work to empower 19 youths into an independent life free of violence.
Hence, for 2017 we have set new ambitious targets and hope that you keep on joining us on our journey.
What is planned in the JUCONI Youth House over the next few months?
As you may know, JUCONI attributes significant priority on offering intensive personalized attention on a long-term basis for every single Youth House resident to fully guarantee sustainable results and a successful reintegration into family and society. Therefore, all therapeutic interventions and vocational guidance will proceed as scheduled in the individual action plans to slowly build the foundation for their own empowerment and independence.
Within this structured routine, we will also continue with the implementation of a high variety of cultural and recreational activities so that the young men can strengthen their emotional, social, cognitive and physical skills and tools. Educational and employment activities have been specially designed to help them visualize a future in which they can develop their full potential.
Thus, in the coming months we are planning various workshops focusing on issues such as how to promote good treatment, getting to know oneself, cooking and an introduction in philosophy. We will visit the interactive Museum of Economy, the Soccer Club of Puebla and organize business visits to a beverage factory and Faurecia, a global leader in automotive equipment. Once a week our educators and coordinators will hold theoretical training courses about federal employee law, a well-balanced nutrition, personal finances, customer services, leadership and English classes.
As all these activities can only be succeed within an adequate, comfortable and safe environment, we are planning to restore some parts of the Youth House which allows the young men feel comfortable and enjoy the time together while playing games and exchanging experiences.
Just like last year, we are convinced that JUCONI´s Youth House residents will enjoy many great moments and celebrate small and greater successes being on the right way to lead an independent life free of violence.
This positive foresight – as we always emphasize – is only possible thanks to your unlimited generosity, confidence and support and we look forward to our ongoing journey together in the year ahead!
If you are more curious about the Youth House and JUCONI´s work to eliminate family violence in Mexico (and the world!), please do not hesitate contacting us: proyectos@juconi.org.mx.
Once again, thank you for all your support!
Sincerely,
The JUCONI team.
