In this opportunity we want to let you know about our activities at the end of the summer and our achievements, as well as the goals we have set for the following months. Without a doubt, there is much to share, and we are very pleased to do it.
A productive summer course
During the summer, Rafael, one of our Youth House members, assisted for the second time, to a summer course at the Volkswagen factory in Puebla to learn about safety, electricity and welding that can be used in basic situations. This course represents a great opportunity for young people, who, like Rafael, traditionally cannot attend professional training courses that result in the improvement of skills and abilities, so that they can eventually obtain a decent and well-paid job. We are very happy for the achievements of Rafael who very much enjoyed it.
Day to day
In the same way, we want to inform you that the Youth House continues with its daily activities. Different socio-emotional workshops took place, in which they reflect on their respective life projects, the challenges to face, as well as the assessment of the goals achieved to raise their expectations; academic regularization courses and recreational and cultural outings, among which the visit to the baroque museum and the railway museum, two of the most important museographic precincts of the city, were the ones that the youngsters enjoyed the most.
It was also carried out the realization of a meeting between the Youth House and the JUCONI House (where children between 6 and 14 years old reside). On this occasion the boys shared different activities, where it became very evident that the oldest teenagers model the forms of coexistence of respect towards the youngest, which makes them become more aware of their roles, not only within their own social cores, but in the whole community and the transcendence of their actions in the proper functioning of society.
On the other hand, several follow-up visits were made with some graduates of the Youth House. For JUCONI it is very important to maintain contact with the young people who once attended the House and to know how their life has developed, once they were ready to lead an independent life. With great joy, we observe that most of them have stable emotional, family and economic lives, and in those cases where there are still no job opportunities, the monitoring will continue to support them in obtaining stable jobs. The follow-up work promotes attachment with the organization and the message that, although they are no longer residents of the Youth House, JUCONI has them in mind and they can count on us.
We prepare a new Congress
We are currently working very hard to have our 5th JUCONI Congress "Transforming lives, harvesting peace" that will be carried out again in the city of Puebla and in which more than 30 internationally recognized experts in their fields, will participate, together with 100 organizations and institutions from Mexico and from different parts of the world that work with children-related issues, the fight against violence, vulnerable groups and the improvement of society.
On this occasion, we will meet on October 25 and 26 at the Convention Center of Puebla to address issues of trauma, violence, culture of peace, early childhood, childhood, human rights, among others, which will strengthen the knowledge for many people that multiplies their impacts by being included in their daily practices with a population affected by violence, poverty and exclusion.
Thank you very much for all your support.
Sincerely,
The JUCONI team
