This project aims to strengthen the economic resilience post conflict of 2000 vulnerable women in eastern DRC through vocational training, entrepreneurship support, and access to microfinance. It will equip women with practical skills, create income-generating opportunities, and promote financial independence. By fostering women-led businesses, the project contributes to poverty reduction and community stability.
More than10000 Women in eastern DRC face high levels of poverty, unemployment, and limited access to education and financial services according to ONU FEMME. Many lack the skills and resources needed to generate income. Gender inequality, economic instability, and conflict further restrict their opportunities, leaving them vulnerable and dependent, with limited participation in economic decision-making. This project will affect more than 2000 congolese refugees women in Bukavu, Kabare and Idjwi.
The project will provide vocational training, entrepreneurship support, and access to small grants for women. It will strengthen their business skills, improve financial literacy, and connect them to local markets. Through mentorship and group-based initiatives, women will gain confidence, create sustainable income activities, and improve their economic independence.
The project will increase 2000 women's economic independence, reduce poverty, and strengthen household resilience. Women-led businesses will create local jobs and stimulate community economies. Over time, empowered women will play a greater role in decision-making, contributing to gender equality, social stability, and sustainable development in the region.
