Across Nigeria, too many young people have ambition but lack the opportunity to turn it into a livelihood. ADF will support 100 underserved youths aged 16-24 in Lagos through a 24-month pathway at the Institute for Industrial Technology (IIT), combining technical education, hands-on training, industry exposure, mentorship, student development and entrepreneurship. Graduates will gain practical skills and experience to secure skilled employment or start their own enterprises.
In Nigeria, many young people from economically disadvantaged families struggle to secure sustainable livelihoods. Without practical skills, workplace experience and the support needed to enter skilled work or start enterprises, they remain excluded from economic opportunity. This project will support 100 youths aged 16-24 through a 24-month pathway at the Institute for Industrial Technology, combining hands-on training, industry experience, mentorship and entrepreneurship support.
ADF will train 100 youths over 24 months at the Institute for Industrial Technology. Students receive classroom instruction, intensive hands-on workshop training, and supervised industry placements with employers. They are provided with tools, equipment and personal protective equipment. Students also receive mentorship, career guidance, employability preparation and entrepreneurship training. Financially disadvantaged students receive assistance to enable their participation.
This project will help 100 economically disadvantaged youths in Lagos build practical skills and workplace experience that led to skilled employment or enterprise. As these young people secure sustainable livelihoods, they will support their families, contribute to their communities and, as experienced technicians or entrepreneurs, create opportunities for others. The long-term effect is 100 economically active young people generating benefits well beyond the project period.
