This project will provide women with start up agriculture inputs as resources to start income generating projects to sustain their lives and their dependants. Sanning Foundation Trust (SFT) is currently assisting 48 vulnerable women and those living and affected with HIV in both rural and urban areas of Zimbabwe. We need more inputs to assist more of such women to be able to start agriculture projects , improve their livelihoods and alleviate poverty.
Amongst the 85% unemployment rate in Zimbabwe, over 60% of this percentage are women. These women have struggled to earn a living. Those who wish to start an income generating project do not have access to financial services, either formal or informal, due to lack of collateral. A few financial institutions who offer such assistance charge high interest rates. The situation is worse to those in the rural areas. Thus they continue living in extreme poverty.
This project will provide resource inputs and trainings to these women ensuring that those who live in poverty, particularly women that are less privileged and those living and affected with HIV are assisted. The springboard of SFT is compassionate in encouraging women to start agricultural small income generating projects that are sustainable. With donations to fund 100 women, SFT intends to build on these donations through a revolving fund in order to continue improving their lives.
Sanning Foundation projects devote in improving women's lives. We are optimistic that the long term impact of our work will transform lives. Through the agricultural resource inputs and trainings we intend to provide, they shall realize their full physical and mental potential in order for them to be self reliant. They will also be able to participate fully in the national economy and to be able to earn a living and pursue their vision .
