Mobility is more than movement, it's a human right. This project will empower 10 children living with limb disabilities in the state of Gujarat in Western India with our Joshi modular prosthetic limbs and the life-changing gift of mobility. When you give a child the chance to move you give them the excitement of entering the classroom for their first day of school, the freedom to enjoy their childhood, the tools to live self-sufficiently, and the confidence to pursue their dreams.
An estimated 12 million kids in India live with a disability. Without treatment, kids living with limb disabilities are fated to a life of discrimination and poverty. Their inability to move prevents them from accessing education (90% of kids living with disabilities don't attend school as a lack of public transport means if they cant walk, they can't go), achieving self-sufficiency, & one day securing gainful employment. This project will equip 10 kids with prostheses and the gift of mobility.
One mobility device can transform the entire course of a child's life. This project will empower 10 kids in India with our Joshi modular prosthetic limbs. Our Joshi is a modern modular prosthetic lower limb system designed by us to grow with our kids; light enough for ballet, tough enough for soccer - and produced at an average cost of only $250. When you give a child mobility, you improve their self-esteem, provide access to education, future employment, and the tools to live independently.
This project will equip 10 kids with the physical capabilities and self-esteem needed to access school in areas where transportation is not available, and subsequently seek employment opportunities outside of dangerous and low-paying work such as street begging. Such fundamental tools are critical to breaking the cycle of poverty into which they were born, allowing these children to one day support themselves, their families, and their community.
