Vidya Poshak Skill Training Programs Q3 Report

By Venky | Executive Director

Our hearty gratitude for your continued support in our endeavor of empowering the educational community. We are on the verge of completing 18 years of existence. During the calendar year 2018 we continued to engage college students through our flagship Nurture Merit Program. We also had programs made for high school children. The initiative to Nurture the Non-academic talent in selected fields is gaining momentum.

  • During the year 331 students were trained through 7 Residential Bridge camps till December, 2018 and 4 more are planned for the 4th quarter of the academic year 2018-19.
  • In the second batch of our IIT/JEE training out of 16 students 6 students cleared JEE mains. The third batch of training program is going on in which 40 students are getting trained.

  • Carving out Counsellor program - two batches of interested persons were trained as lay counselors. Till date 67 lay counselors are trained to offer counseling to the needy. The training is being offered by ‘Samadhana Trust’ Bengaluru, headed by Dr. C.R. Chandrashekhar, a renowned psychiatrist.
  • Abdul Kalam Susandhi Fellowship program is a unique program designed to impart technical skills along with exemplary behavioral skills. 72 students are now part of this program. All previous batch students are successfully placed for industrial training in different companies.

  • Tutoring in Government Schools: This program is a joint venture between Vidya Pohsak and eVidyaloka. The program addresses shortage of teachers and poor quality of teaching in rural schools. Trained volunteer teachers, based across the world deliver online interactive sessions through skype in vernacular language to the children studying in 5th to 7th class. This program is being run in 20 villages of Dharwad block and 2500 children are being benefitted
